Okay so personally, this was probably the best decision I have ever made for my own life. This doesn't come easy believe me! It takes a lot of discipline and soul searching to entirely change your self being as a woman. It gets harder as we get older because we get distracted by all the wrong things and give up on ourselves and truly believe "it is what it is".
Well I'm here to tell you it's not. It's a wake up call. There will never be a wrong time to make a positive change in your life. Realize this now and you will only pave the way to your success sooner than you think!
This probably won't be the first time you have heard some of these mentioned, but all of them are the most life changing habits you will ever need!
Wake up Earlier.
Sounds so simple but so intimidating for most. This takes A LOT of discipline. Probably the most of them all because this affects you physically and mentally first. I would do this by the minutes at first and then if you're up to it, a half an hour more. Reach for an hour earlier at most for your days so you have time in the morning to have your cup of tea or whatever you drink, and just focus on setting yourself in a good place to have a great rest of your day.
Make Time to Work Out (More)
No, you don't have to go run a mile right this second. Make time each day to get your body moving and I mean REALLY moving. Not going from the couch to the bathroom and then back. Go for a walk. Do some yoga. Meditate. All these resources are FREE to you. Because Youtube is a beautiful thing I think we all can agree on. Moving your body gets your heart going and you're circulating all of last night's regrets. But that's the point! You're starting over, and starting fresh. It makes me so sad when I see people around me saying "I don't have time" "I'm lazy" "I work too much" okay so do I but I make time for what's important just like you do. You made the time to come up with these excuses, why not switch that and go do something that's gonna make you feel amazing at the end? And if you're finding it hard to get the motivation well, it's probably because you haven't incorporated this into your priorities so your body is working against you. Work it into your schedule and tell yourself otherwise and watch the difference.
Drink More Water.
Okay so I'm totally guilty of not following through with this because I am so forgetful. It's a bad habit I have to share because I want to be transparent with you guys. This is so important though. It really opened my eyes when I was reading Rachel Hollis's new book, "Girl, Stop Apologizing" (by the way, this is a MUST read). She was talking about how you're not fully hydrated unless you are drinking half of your weight. She breaks it down for you. So let's say you are 100 lbs respectively, you need to be drinking 50oz of water to be fully hydrated. I am not a nutritionist I just found that this method works for a majority of people including myself. It's good for your energy, good for your system. Yeah you'll be peeing every five minutes but it's totally worth the cleanse.
Eating Healthier.
This was the second largest and hardest change I have had to make. Being Italian pasta and pizza are in my blood but I have learned to have it in moderation without giving it up. There's a million fad diets out there that are so bad for you. (please do your research on this subject to AVOID THEM) dieting is a terrible mindset if you're asking my honest opinion. Just eat right. Yup, just like that.
What I mean by this is:
- Eat in moderation
- Stop eating so late
- Minimize the amount of snacks you eat in a day
- There's a healthier alternative to a majority of everything you eat. You just have to research, trial and error.
Take A Mid Afternoon Nap.
As simple as that. Putting this into a general perspective if you're tired, you need to sleep. Your body is speaking to you. A mid afternoon nap is your boost for the remainder of the day. I know a lot of us can't achieve this being moms or working a 9-5 but when you get home or when your husband gets home, give him the current duties. You rest girl! Does not need to be 3 hours long. I like to call my 20-30 minute naps "power naps". They're just a quick shut eye to help me go about the rest of my day or evening especially if I still have things I have to take care of or places I have to go.
Practice Gratitude.
I personally loved developing this habit. Takes up no time at all and is the best mindset to have. The easiest and best way to practice gratitude is to keep a journal. In this journal that will be strictly for your gratitude, write down five things that you were grateful for that day. It could be as simple as "getting my favorite order at Starbucks" for all I care! If it made you happy today, write it down. Look at your list and smile. Good things did happen and you didn't even know it!
Keep a Journal.
This book is different from your gratitude journal. The point of this journal is to visualize your thoughts. There is a huge difference to visualizing your thoughts and just thinking them. It's hard to explain because this is something you have to see for yourself but try it! Whether that day was good or bad, write it down. Write everything that went through your head on paper. This is actually a great form of stress relief. It's been known to calm people because you have better control over your thoughts once you can see them. It's easier to gather and organize your thoughts once they've been visually manifested to you.
Read A New Book Each Month.
There's so many self development books out there! Do your research and find them. That's how I've made a list of books that I should be reading. Even if you don't care for self development, (you're crazy if you don't. They have the BEST tactical life tips anyone could ever give) make a list of books you've been wanting to read and create a monthly goal to read them one at a time! Even if you overlap months, that's okay. Life happens.
These are just a few of so many tips I could give you but if you're someone that's just starting out to make a life change, this is the way to go. It's easy to get overwhelmed once you have the drive to achieve your highest self because you want everything to happen over night. I'm telling you that's not going to be the case, because it's hard work. You're literally changing your day to day life and how you operate as a woman. Take your time and find out what works best for you! You're never alone on this my friend, there is always going to be someone out there willing to help you. Who wouldn't want to help someone become their best self?
